CMAC
CMAC (Community Media Access Collaborative) is an organization near & dear to my heart. The good people there make a valiant effort to help people in the community learn and create original video content and therefore helping them carve new & exciting career paths. With top notch instructors teaching classes and cutting edge technology, members of CMAC are set-up to tell the stories that individuals have burning within. So when I was asked by the organization to design a T-shirt for their annual CMAC Fest event, I jumped on the opportunity to help members look a little bit more fashionable.
For the concepts, I took into account a few ideas. First was to incorporate the sole element their current logo into the design: the antenna. Second, as pixel pushers themselves, be it in images sent to various platforms or in teaching classes in the digital realm from video editing to motion graphics, the usage of pixel art came into focus as well. I experimented with basic shapes and then working towards a middle ground between sharp edges and the crude blockiness of pixel art.
After a few revisions with the client, this was the final design was approved and a limited amount were hand silkscreened by a local artisan. The shirts were a success and the entire CMAC staff & its members were made a little more fashionable at the celebration.
